Footballer Arrested For Masturbating In Public

Algerian and Angers winger, Farid El Melali was arrested on Wednesday, July 8,  for the second time this year for allegedly masturbating in public in France.
Ouest-France reported that the 22-year-old was questioned by local police following a second indecent exposure complaint lodged against the Algerian attacker.
The fresh incident comes two months after he was arrested for this same offense, and was already preparing to face a court hearing later this summer.
El Melali’s lawyer, Sandra Chirac Kollarik, said that ‘Farid El Melali was heard this Wednesday morning by the Angers police services, about acts committed during the recent period of confinement, which he acknowledged, and about which he had already been interviewed before being summoned to court.
‘Once again Farid El Melali answered the questions asked and all the necessary checks could therefore be made, so that his hearing was quickly closed.
‘He renews his sincerest apologies to the women he may have upset with inappropriate attitudes.’
In response to the latest incident, Angers President Fabrice Favetto-Bon said: ‘We believe that we have already made statements on this matter. We heard the player’s apology.
‘Obviously, this type of behaviour, pending the decision of the courts, does not conform with the values of the club and our requirement of players to be examples. The process is ongoing.’
Farid El Melali is expected to make a plea – either guilty or not guilty – when facing a prosecutor on the two complaints of alleged indecent exposure.
In line with article 222-32 of law in France, the footballer risks receiving a one-year prison sentence and a €15,000 (£13,480) fine.

Dausi Mocks Tonse Cabinet

Spokesperson for the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Nicholas Dausi has described the newly released cabinet as laughable.
On Wednesday, state president Lazarus Chakwera named a 31 member cabinet which has stirred debate on social media platforms.
In the cabinet, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vice president Sidik Mia and his Wife Abida Sidik Mia have been appointed as minister of Transport and deputy minister of Lands respectively.
In an interview with the press the former minister said the cabinet is bizarre laughable and a family affair.
According to Dausi, Chakwera’s leadership is fielding with people that does not portray inclusion as the leader preaches.
Dausi has since cast shadow of doubt on the possibility of the cabinet to succefully deliver to poor Malawians as promised.
He has also said they respect the appointment of Rashid Gaffar into the cabinet.

Queen Noloyiso was married to the amaRharhabe monarch, Maxhoba Sandile, for over two decades until his death in 2011.
She was then made the regent as her son, Prince Jonguxolo Sandile, was too young to become king.
The 56-year-old had been admitted at a hospital for Covid-19-related complications, the public broadcaster SABC reported.
President Cyril Ramaphosa described her as "a bastion of traditional values and an inspiring and principled leader of her people".

HRDC to meet Chakwera over Cabinet Issue

The Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is scheduled to meet the newly elected President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera over the just released 31 member Cabinet.
On Thursday night, Chakwera released a full Cabinet list with Muhammad Sidik Mia and his wife Abida Mia being included in the Cabinet.
Mia is the Minister of Transport and Public Works while his wife Abida is deputy in the Ministry of Lands, which is headed by former parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee chairperson Kezzie Msukwa.
In another family affair, two members of founding president Kamuzu Banda—Ken Kandodo and Khumbize Chiponda—shave been appointed Minister for Labour and Minister of Health, respectively.
Speaking in a media briefing in Lilongwe, HRDC Chairperson Gift Trapence said the grouping has booked a meeting with Chakwera this afternoon.
Trapence said since the announcement, people have been calling them to express their reservations on the Cabinet.
He stressed that the grouping will not allow nepotism to continue in the country.
On his part, HRDC National Coordinator Luke Tembo said people are not comfortable with the appointing of family members and more people from one region.
He said what has been served to the public is not what people expected, basing on Tonse Alliance’s campaign manifesto.

Citizen for Transformation (CFT) leader Timothy Mtambo has been appointed as Minister of Civic Education and National Unity.
This has been confirmed following the release of a 31 Member Cabinet appointed by the newly elected President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
Mtambo resigned from Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) and campaigned heavily for Tonse Alliance ahead of the fresh Presidential polls.
Chakwera has also loped in Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) top official Rashid Gaffer as Minister of Mining to the surprise of many Malawians.
Gaffer made headlines a week ago after it was revealed that he sold two of his buses to former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The buses were donated to Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers Football Clubs.

Zodiak Managing Director Gospel Kazako Appointed Minister of Information

Presidential running mates gear up for second debate: Kazako says ...
Managing Director for Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) Gospel Kazako has been appointed as Minister of Information in the just released cabinet.
Yesterday, state president Lazarus Chakwera announced a 31 member cabinet which comprised of 23 full ministers and 8 deputy ministers.
According to a press statement signed by Chief Secretary to the Government Zangazanga Chikhosi, said the cabinet has 16 Members of Parliament while the other members have been picked from various sectors.
Following Kazako’s appointment, social media commentators have said this might affect the independency of the media house which is known of broadcasting without fear or favor.
According to Onjezani Kenani, Kazako is an ex-officio member of the board of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) which regulates radios and televisions.
Questioning the position he has been put, Kenani asked if Kazako would close his radio station if found violating MACRA’s rules and regulations.
“Gospel Kazako, owner of Zodiak Broadcasting Station, Minister of Information. The Minister of Information is an ex-officio member of the board of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), which regulates radios and television stations. Granted he could make a show of “relinquishing” ownership, but, frankly, if ZBS were to flout regulations, would he close it?’ questioned Kenani.

Dortmund targeting replacements in preparation for Jadon Sancho exit to MANU

Dortmund are lining up potential replacements for Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund are targeting potential replacements for Jadon Sancho in preparation for the winger's exit.
The 20-year-old continues to be heavily linked with a move to Man Utd despite claims the Premier League club are only willing to pay half of Dortmund's asking price.
United have reportedly put a £50million budget on landing Sancho - which falls well short of Dortmund's £100million valuation.
Insiders feel this is a ploy by United though to tempt Dortmund into lowering their price tag.
In any event, the Bundesliga outfit are still making contingency plans in case Sancho does end up departing the club this summer.
The club's sporting director Michael Zorc told Kicker: "If Jadon left, we would do something again in the offensive area.
"There are certainly one or two players we are targeting."
Dortmund are more than happy to keep hold of Sancho for another season, as they feel they could still command a high fee for the star next summer, despite the fact he'll be entering the final year of his contract.
They are not interested in having a long, drawn-out transfer saga this summer, and have set United a deadline of August 10 - around the time the window is expected to open - for them to complete a deal.
That would give them adequate time to complete a deal for a replacement prior to the Bundesliga season getting back up and running again.
United are not particularly concerned with Dortmund's deadline however, as The Athletic report Red Devils' chiefs believe a deal could still be configured beyond that date.
Whether United will be able to fund a move could also depend on if they achieve qualification for next season's Champions League.
Should they miss out on a top four spot, they may be reliant on winning the Europa League, and would potentially not know their fate until after the final - due to be played on August 21.

MANU transfer news: Grealish agent update, three-man centre-back wishlist

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are enjoying a terrific run of form on the pitch, off it there is a growing focus on what the team needs to close the gap to Liverpool and Manchester City.
Solskjaer has proven that he can assemble a fluid, dynamic, and dangerous-looking team, but the squad is still lacking in depth and quality in key areas, especially when compared to the Premier League's top two.
United have not shied away from the fact that they need to spend. They invested heavily in the squad last summer and in January, and they could be set to do the same this summer as Solskjaer looks to take the next step in the rebuild at Old Trafford.
Here is your Manchester United transfer round-up.

Grealish agent provides transfer update

Amid reports that he could move to Old Trafford in the summer, Jack Grealish’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, revealed that no deal has been done with Manchester United.
However, he did concede that, while Grealish is focusing on keeping Aston Villa in the Premier League, the Champions League is the next step in his career.
When asked whether a deal with United has been agreed, Barnett told Stretty News: “Absolutely no deal has been done with anybody.”
But he did imply that Grealish wants to play in Europe's elite club competition.
“I think as far as his career is concerned, it would be great for him to play in the Champions League and develop his great skills,” he said. “I’m not sure in which country or where that will be.
“But that conversation won’t happen now because all he wants to do is fight and help Aston Villa.”

United end Moussa Dembele interest

Earlier in the season, it was expected that Manchester United would pursue a centre-forward in the transfer market.
However, since the restart, the emergence of Mason Greenwood and formation of a front three with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial has made the club reconsider their transfer priorities.
Per the Daily Star, United sent scouts to watch Lyon striker Moussa Dembele before the Ligue 1 season was cut short. They had intended to make a £60million move in the summer.
However, thanks to the recent performances of Greenwood, who has three goals and an assist since the restart and has established himself as a regular fixture in the starting XI, combined with Dembele’s wage demands, United have now dropped their interest.

Dembele has scored 31 goals in 60 Ligue 1 fixtures for Lyon. He was previously prolific in Scotland for Celtic and has been tipped to develop into a leading European striker.
Greenwood, though, now has 15 goals in all competitions this season, and with United still keen on signing Jadon Sancho, their attention has turned elsewhere.

The three-man centre-back wishlist

While United’s attacking players have clicked into gear since the restart, the club still feels that defensive reinforcements are required, especially at centre-half.
According to ESPN, thanks to the re-emergence of Paul Pogba in central midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes, United will turn their summer transfer efforts to the defence, instead of pursuing another midfielder like Jack Grealish, James Maddison or Donny van de Beek as had been previously reported.
The three names that have been earmarked as potential targets in the summer window are Bournemouth ’s Nathan Ake, Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings, and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.
With both Bournemouth and Villa facing relegation, Ake and Mings may well be more attainable. They are also both left-footed, which would provide an able partner for Harry Maguire, who arrived in an £80m deal from Leicester City last summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists David de Gea is the best goalkeeper

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists David de Gea has been the best goalkeeper in world football over the last 10 years.
The Manchester United No.1 has come under scrutiny recently - notably after a mistake to concede against Spurs last month which left Roy Keane furious.
And the pressure is on the Spaniard, who signed a big-money deal last September, tying him to United until 2024, amid Dean Henderson’s impressive form at Sheffield United.
The young Englishman is determined to return to Old Trafford and become No.1, and Solskjaer is increasingly facing having to make a decision with regards the 24-year-old.
De Gea will make his 399th United appearance against Aston Villa on Thursday, and club legend Peter Schmeichel insists he could have another 10 years left at United.
The great Dane believes De Gea will remain the No.1 for some time yet, and Solskjaer similarly maintains that he has no doubts De Gea is the world’s best.

Africa's confirmed COVID-19 cases now reaches half-million

Africa now has more than a half-million confirmed coronavirus cases.
The continent-wide total is over 508,000, according to figures released Wednesday by the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, after South Africa recorded another day of more than 10,000 confirmed cases as a new global hot spot.
The true number of cases among Africa’s 1.3 billion people is unknown as its 54 countries continue to face a serious shortage of testing materials for the virus. “A tremendous problem, a real crisis of access,” the World Health Organization’s Africa chief, Matshidiso Moeti, said last week.
So far most testing has been concentrated in capital cities, but infections in many cases have spread beyond them.
Already COVID-19 has killed more people in Africa — 11,955 — than Ebola did in its deadliest outbreak from 2014 to 2016 in West Africa, the WHO said Wednesday.
“With more than a third of countries in Africa doubling their cases over the past month, the threat of COVID-19 overwhelming fragile health systems on the continent is escalating,” Moeti said Wednesday.
“So far the continent has avoided disaster," she added. If countries can continue to improve testing, tracing and isolating, “we can slow down the spread of the virus to a manageable level.”
Africa’s health systems are the most poorly funded and thinly staffed in the world, and already more than 2,000 health workers have been infected by the virus, according to the WHO.
This week alone, some anxious health workers in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Congo and Sierra Leone have gone on strike or demonstrated for adequate protective gear or better pay.
The African continent has just 2.2 health workers — and 0.3 doctors — per 1,000 people, according to the WHO.
Experts have warned that even if badly needed supplies such as ventilators are provided to African nations, another challenge is having enough trained workers to operate them.
So far, WHO-organized shipments to African countries have included more than 3,000 oxygen concentrators, another key piece of equipment to help with breathing.
Africa reaches the half-million-case milestone as a growing number of its countries decide to reopen their skies to commercial flights, saying their economies are sick, too. Months of closed borders bought time to prepare for the pandemic but hurt the delivery of badly needed humanitarian aid.

MASSAGE FROM MALAWI’S STATE PRESIDENT CHAKWERA AFTER 10 DAYS IN THE OFFICE

“Fellow Citizens, I know you are anxious to hear an announcement of the new cabinet. In part, this is because I myself gave you the expectation to hear this announcement no later than my inauguration on July 6.
But on second thought, Dr. Chilima and I decided to subject the list to another battery of scrutiny in order to be doubly sure that we are offering Malawians a well-balanced team of high-performing servant leaders who will bring forth the fruits of our Tonse Philosophy.
As such, I thank you for your patience with this rigorous process and beg your pardon for the necessary delay, though I will be announcing the cabinet any day now.
Having promised to form a cabinet of no more than 30 members, of which no less than 12 are to be women, the number of qualified people under consideration exceeds the number of cabinet portfolios. For this reason, the task requires considerable thought and prayer on our part and will require understanding and trust on yours.
What is certain is that we will still need the remarkable men and women who end up not getting a cabinet appointment this time around to be put to good use elsewhere in the service of Malawians.
This is because the work of draining the swamp, clearing the rubble, overhauling the rotten systems of the state, and building new systems cannot be the preserve of Cabinet Ministers alone. In the meantime, we have been attending to other matters of state on your behalf over the last seven days. Below are some of the key deliverables that I am pleased to report to you bwanas and donas:
1. Ordered a freeze on high risk government tenders and contracts being awarded without due diligence, pending a review of both the bidding process and the contents of the bids.
2. Met with the plenipotentiaries of the Governments of China πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ, and Great BritainπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§to begin discussions on our bilateral relations within the context of our unique Tonse foreign policy prioritizing development, production, trade, and governance institutions over consumption and aid.
3. Engaged Heads of Parastatals, Heads of Banks, Foreign Investors, and Captains of Industry to begin orienting them to the implications and opportunities of the Tonse economic policy of Prospering Together.
4. Commenced an audit of multiple nation-building projects that have long been frustrated by beaurocracy and corruption, such as the installation of an oxygen plant at KCH to assist in the treatment of Covid-19 patients, which has been stuck in a warehouse since 2016 and led to the needless wastage of 2 million dollars on unsustainable bills under the previous Administration.
5. Engaged the Presidential Task force on Covid-19 to raise the level of our collective action, resources, and accountability in our fight against the spreading pandemic, leading to my decision to cancel Independence Day Celebrations at Bingu National Stadium.
6. Spoke to my brother, President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda, as part of my quest to forge strategic partnerships towards the strengthening of Capable Democratic Developmental States across the Great Rift Valley to leverage the bounties of our natural and human resources for the shared prosperity of our peoples.
7. Delivered my inaugural address at a colorful ceremony at Kamuzu Barracks, setting out the pillars and values of the Tonse Philosophy through which we secured electoral victory together and by which we will lay the foundation of a new era of shared economic liberation together.
On this occasion, I also had the inestimable and humbling privilege of inspecting the military guard and receiving the Sword of Command in my capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defense Forces.”

Cambodia ban the sale and consumption of dog meat

Cambodia has become the first to ban the sale and consumption of dog meat.
The new ban will include punishments of up to five years in prison or fines of between 7 and 50 million riel ($12,200; £7,940).
The decision follows similar moves in other parts of Asia in recent months.
The consumption of dog meat is not widespread in Cambodia, with fewer than 12% of people eating it on a regular basis, according to animal rights charity Four Paws.
According to the Humane Society International (HSI), 30 million dogs are killed for meat across Asia every year.
In April, Shenzhen became the first city in China to ban eating cats and dogs, while India’s north-eastern state of Nagaland outlawed the import, trade and sale of dog meat earlier this month.

Tricksters impersonating MCP’s Secretary General

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka says tricksters are impersonating him to dupe various organizations in the country.
Mkaka said this in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
“I am shocked to learn that some people are impersonating me and calling organisations demanding things in my name. I have been given one of the numbers being used which I will be handing over to the police.
“I will call no organisation to demand anything. I am here in service to people and not to abuse my position,” wrote Mkaka.
He added: “Be warned that the long arm of the law will catch up with you!”
The law enforcers are yet to comment on the matter.
