Man in custody for defiling nieces

A 41 year old man in Ntchisi District has been arrested for allegedly defiling and impregnating his two 16 year old nieces.
Both girls now have babies which they delivered after being defiled by the suspect a number of times, one in 2017 and the other in 2019.
Ntchisi Police Spokesperson, Richard Kaponda attributed the delay in arresting the suspect, Yosefe Chitedze from Gulumuleni Village in Chief Kalumo’s area to the fact that the suspect had been on the run.
It is also reported members of the community were afraid to report the suspect to police as he has been threatening he would kill them through magic.
According to District Coordinator for Youth net and Counselling (YONECO), Precious Mkukumira whose organization’s intervention has led to the arrest of the suspect, after they learnt about the incident, they decided to engage the police.
“Upon learning about the defilement incident which took place last year, we decided to follow up on the issue and engaged the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest,” said Mkukumira.
He added it was after the arrest that the community members disclosed about a similar offence the same suspect committed in 2017, but was never reported to police.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect was found with four charms locally known as zithumwa which the police wanted to destroy but he pleaded with them not to but rather take them to his home.According to Kaponda, the first victim was defiled twice in June 2017 while the second victim was defiled in August 2019 for three times on different days. Both of them were defiled in the suspect’s garden.
The victims did not share their experiences with anyone until months later when they were discovered to be pregnant by their respective mothers.
Ntchisi Police Community Policing Coordinator, Lloyd Maida said the district last year recorded 46 defilement cases and has so far recorded 35 defilement cases this year (from January to June). He admitted some cases are not reported at all.
“We have four police units in the district. Traditional authorities Chikho and Vuso Jere do not have police units, assuch, community members find it expensive to travel to the district police station to report cases,” said Maida.
He further said some victims’ parents and guardians opt to marry off the victims to the defilers rather than reporting to the police.
While bemoaning the increase in defilement cases and the conduct of some community members in the district for not reporting such cases to police, Ntchisi District Youth Officer, Gray Kalampa, called upon child protection structures in the district to be vigilant.
“We need to empower our communities to report to police whenever such offences are committed and this requires coordination between both government department

Man Sets Self On Fire After Getting Ditched By ‘Baby Mama’

In a sad development, a 28-year-old Zimbabwean man set himself on ablaze in Eastern Johannesburg,  South Africa. He couldn’t stand the sight of his ‘baby mama’ with other men. It is alleged that he doused himself first with petrol before setting himself on fire.
The publication has established that Tinashe Marimo, who hailed from Chitungwiza, allegedly committed the act in a fit of rage. He was hospitalized for a few days with severe third-degree burns. Unfortunately, he eventually succumbed to the injuries.
Sources close to the late Marimo, say that the now deceased once had a romantic relationship with a 38-year-old woman named Lizzie Ndlovu who is ten years his senior. However, after Lizzie broke up with him last year in December, he couldn’t cope with the reality of Lizzie moving on and being in another relationship.
“The two had an on-and-off relationship and seemingly the woman had more power financially. At first, they were so much in love and were inseparable. They actually had a child together but they would fight a lot. Lizzie finally called it quits in December and they were staying in separate places,” said a source close to the two.
The late Marimo was a qualified truck mechanic and a multi-talented musician, his genre was Zimdancehall. The source added that,
“Tinashe was a ‘hustler’ but things were not going well for him due to this Covid-19 pandemic. He had been trying to reconcile with Lizzie who had since moved on. He didn’t take this lightly possibly resulting in what he did.”
On the night in question, Murimo is alleged to have barged into his baby mama’s house already dripping of petrol and lit himself on fire. Neighbors rushed in with buckets full of water to try and extinguish the fire. He was rushed to the hospital with third-degree burns.
This is the first time the now deceased Murimo has tried to kill himself.  Another source said,
“Apparently this is not the first time Tinashe attempted to take his life. A few years ago he attempted to hang himself”
Murimo’s body was repatriated back to Zimbabwe on Wednesday. His relatives are deeply hurt by what happened, some even fainted, during body viewing. Marimo relatives suspect foul play as they can’t believe Marimo would set himself on fire.

David De Gea allowed shots from Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount to beat him as Chelsea end United's 19-game unbeaten streak

David de Gea's mistake handed Chelsea their second goal

Increasingly error-prone David de Gea was at fault twice as Chelsea ended Manchester United's long unbeaten run with a 3-1 win at Wembley to book their place in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
The United keeper is under pressure after a series of uncharacteristic mistakes this season, and there was no way back for his team on Sunday after his poor attempts to keep out shots from Olivier Giroud (45+11) and Mason Mount (46) either side of half-time.
Chelsea were handed a third when Maguire (74) diverted a cross past De Gea at his near post and, although Bruno Fernandes (85) converted United's 19th penalty of the season, it was nothing more than a consolation as the Blues - who had lost their three previous matches with United this season - cruised into the final, which takes place on August 1.
De Gea's latest performance will fuel debate for the coming months over his status as undisputed No 1 but more immediately United - who hadn't lost in 19 - must now bounce back from the disappointment to try to secure a top-four finish before turning their attentions to the Europa League. Chelsea, meanwhile, can now look forward to competing for a ninth FA Cup - and adding to the four boss Frank Lampard picked up as a player.

  • Jude Bellingham has completed a medical at Borussia Dortmund ahead of his proposed transfer there from Birmingham City.
Although Bellingham has not signed a professional contract with the Blues, it is understood they will receive a transfer fee in excess of £26m.
The Championship side are due a guaranteed £25m up front and "several millions more" depending on appearances, achievements and milestones.
Bellingham left Birmingham airport on Thursday morning on a private jet to fly to Germany, and was not required to quarantine because of the travel corridor between the UK and Germany.
  • Borussia Dortmund appear keen to keep Bellingham away from German media. The club had four cars waiting for the plane - and all four drove off in different directions, hoping to keep his whereabouts a secret.
The Bundesliga club have courted the midfielder, who turned 17 in June, for more than two years, amid stiff competition from most of Europe's top teams, including Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and, most notably, Manchester United.
The England U17 skipper has chosen Dortmund due to the club's long history of developing young talent and their policy of giving them the chance to play in the Bundesliga.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be disappointed to have missed out on the highly-talented box-to-box midfielder. United pulled out all the stops in their attempts to sign him, offering him a tour of their training ground with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Harry Maguire now better than Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool star makes major error in Arsenal defeat

Harry Maguire boasts better defensive stats in the Premier League than Van Dijk this season
VIRGIL VAN DIJK may be regarded as the best centre-back in the world but it is Harry Maguire that boasts better stats in the Premier League.
The Manchester United defender has been criticised this season for being a liability at times, yet it was Van Dijk who was guilty of a calamitous gaffe on Wednesday night away at Arsenal.
His short backpass was pounced upon by Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates, who rounded Alisson before firing home the equaliser in what turned out to be a shock defeat for Liverpool.
Rival fans took to social media to mock the Dutch defender as he was compared to the Gunners' error-prone David Luiz.
According to the Premier League website, Van Dijk's mistake was his first error of the season that has led to an opposition goal - just his second in 88 Premier League matches for the Reds.
Maguire meanwhile has failed to make a direct error that has seen the opposition score in his 35 top-flight outings this term.
And the England international also boasts a number of better defensive stats that Van Dijk - much to the delight of Red Devils supporters.

A statue of a Black Lives Matter protester in Bristol, England, secretly installed overnight removed

Jen Reid poses by the statue on Wednesday.
statue of a Black Lives Matter protester in Bristol, England, secretly installed overnight on the plinth where a monument to a slave trader had previously stood, has been removed by the local authority.
British artist Marc Quinn erected a sculpture of activist Jen Reid in the early hours of Wednesday morning, weeks after protesters tore down the statue of slave trader Edward Colston and sparked a debate about colonial memory that reverberated worldwide.
But the impromptu display, set up without the knowledge of Bristol's council, lasted just one day before being taken down and moved to a museum.
"This morning we removed the sculpture. It will be held at our museum for the artist to collect or donate to our collection," Bristol City Council tweeted Thursday.
The city's mayor Marvin Rees had previously said that "the future of the plinth and what is installed on it must be decided by the people of Bristol."
"This will be critical to building a city that is home to those who are elated at the statue being pulled down, those who sympathize with its removal but are dismayed at how it happened and those who feel that in its removal, they've lost a piece of the Bristol they know and therefore themselves," he added in a statement on Wednesday.
Quinn's artwork depicted Reid with her fist raised in a Black Power salute, mimicking a picture from June 7 of her atop the empty plinth where the original Colston statue once stood.
After contacting Reid, the artist produced a life-sized sculpture of the moment using black resin. In a press statement released Wednesday, he said that the sculpture "is an embodiment and amplification of Jen's ideas and experiences, and of the past, present and her hope for a better future."
