Health Officials in Kenya to Exhume Covid-19 Body After They Buried The Wrong One

Health Officials in Kenya, Shamakhokho location, had to exhume a cleric’s body at 9 pm on Saturday, August 1, after they buried the wrong body.

The team had buried the body of a man belived to be covid-19 negative instead of that of Linus Simwa, a clergy and chair of the Vihiga Referral Hospital board, who had tested positive for the disease.

Morgue attendants noticed the mistake only after the man’s family came for the body and they could not find it. To their dismay, they noticed that the cleric’s body was still at the mortuary and they had to go back and exhume the body.

“Several customs had to be performed because we do not know the man who had been buried here,” Shamakhokho location chief Modlyn Imbayi stated.

Imbayi added that it was a strange encounter for a family to bury the wrong body in the area.

Simwa had succumbed to covid-19 on Wednesday, July 29 at the Vihiga Referral Hospital while the other man had died shortly after being admitted at the hospital.

They were both placed in body bags and taken to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, families of those succumbing to the virus have been forced to pay extra expenses after the facilities increased body storage charges.

The additional charges have been bestowed on the families because the bodies need to be fumigated and disinfected in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines.

In a past press briefing, Acting Health Director Dr Patrick Amoth explained that the Personal Protective Equipment took up 80% of the charges in treatment of the virus.

“PPE’s are only used once and then disposed,” Amoth stated.

So far, Kenya has recorded 22, 597 cases. Of the cases, 8,740 have recovered while 382 have succumbed to the virus.

Anger as Rwandan women is accused of ‘pornography’

The treatment of four Rwandan women accused of breaking a strict cyber-crime law forbidding “indecent” images from being uploaded has angered social media users, RFI reports.
Critics object to the fact that the suspects were “paraded” in front of the media on Friday before any kind of trial had taken place.
But according to RFI, the Rwanda Investigative Bureau insisted it had been necessary to send a strong message to the public.
It also defended the move by saying the women’s faces and names were not revealed.
A Congolese national was arrested alongside the four women last week, RFI reports. Rwandan authorities reportedly suspect him of “pushing the women to take their clothes off for money” and being a member of a “prostitution ring”.

Zimbabwean Domestic worker flees after killing employer

POLICE in Mashonaland East province are keen to arrest a Buhera man who allegedly killed his employer during the former’s employment as a domestic worker at a Chivhu village.
Police provincial spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed they were looking for Jacob Ruben Chapanduka (age not given) who hails from Nyashanu area in Buhera.
Chapanduka was employed as a domestic worker by Rosemary Ndava (60) of Kuvarega Village under chief Neshangwe in Chivhu.
According to police, on the fateful day, July 15 this year, Ndava retired to bed at around 2100 hrs with her five-year-old grandson whom she lived with, whilst Chapanduka also went to his own bedroom which is about 20 metres away.
However, the following morning, her grandson woke up at around 0700hrs to find her grandmother was not in the room with him.
The grandson is said to have gone to a neighbour Tambudzai Ebbah’s homestead where he was told to calm down as the grandmother could have gone to the fields.
Two days later, Ebbah reportedly called the deceased’s husband Ezekeil Chakauya who at the time was in Gweru and informed him his wife and their domestic worker were missing.
Ebbah later teamed up with the deceased Ndava’s husband to conduct a search for the missing duo.
They then came across the body of Ndava lying lifelessly in the bedroom of their domestic worker.
“The body had both legs tied with an electric cable, both hands were tied with a black head, was wrapped with a white cloth,” said Inspector Mwanza.
The police spokesperson also confirmed the body had a cut on the head which he said could have been inflicted by the suspect using a sharp object.
The body was later taken to Sadza District Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Said Inspector Mwanza, “We are appealing to members of the public who may have whereabouts of the suspects to report at any nearest police station.
“It is also crucial for people to make use of police screening process when employing people for the work so that they know if they have any criminal past.
“It also assists police in making investigations once the identity and criminal past of a suspect are known.”

Manchester United close to agreeing personal terms on five-year deal with Sancho

Manchester United are close to agreeing personal terms in principle on a five-year contract with Jadon Sancho, as discussions continue at an advanced stage with Borussia Dortmund over the structure of the transfer fee.

Dortmund have not moved from their €120m (£108m) valuation of the England international, but seem to be open to accepting less money up front.

Ideally, the Bundesliga side would want an initial €100m (£90m) to fund a replacement for the 20-year-old - though it is very unlikely they would spend that amount of money on a new signing, hence the softening of the stance on Sancho's initial fee.

14-Year-Old Malaysian Boy Who Was Missing, Found In Crocrodile’s Stomach

A 14-year-old boy has been found dead inside a crocodile’s stomach after he was pulled from a riverbank and dragged underwater.
Teenager Ricky Ganya had been collecting snails with his family at a riverbank in Kuching, Malaysia on Friday when the crocodile leapt out of the water and towards him.
The 14-foot animal clamped its jaws around the boy’s foot and dragged him underwater, his aunt called for help and the emergency services arrived, but the boy was gone.
They used a chicken as bait to lure the croc back out of the water and it was trapped in a snare four days later.
Locals cut open the reptile’s stomach and found clothes belonging to Ricky as well as a number of human remains.
An officer from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Center said: “At about 9:15am, the crocodile took the bait, a chicken, attached to a hook laid by a team at a spot about three miles away from where the boy was last seen.
“The crocodile was pulled onto the shore where its stomach was checked. “Sadly, there were human remains inside and these were identified as belonging to the missing teenager.”
The boy’s remains were taken home by the family for him to be given a funeral in their village.

Over 500 Malawians arrives in the country through Mwanza border

More self-repatriated Malawians feeling the bite of a lockdown in South Africa are coming back home.
The returnees entered Malawi through Mwanza border on Sunday
On Sunday, over 500 nationals arrived in the country through Mwanza border.
Spokesperson for the border, Inspector Pasqually Zulu, told Zodiak Online that eleven buses ferried the people back home while others were deported from Mozambique en route home.
“The latest cohort is the arrival of 11 buses with 471 returnees on board. 10 of the 11 buses arrived at Mwanza border in the wee hours of Sunday August 2, 2020 while the last bus which had a breakdown in Zimbabwe arrived at the same formation around 2:30pm.
“All key border agencies witnessed the process of disinfecting the buses by port healthy personnel while the trailers were sealed off by Malawi Revenue Authority officials,” he said.
Zulu added that “of the 11 buses, 4 buses have gone to Nalikule Teachers Training College (TTC) in Lilongwe, 3 buses to Machinga TTC while the last 4 buses to Domasi TTC in Zomba. They will be there for isolation in relation to COVID-19 preventive measures.”
He said the 55 deported Malawians were detained for weeks after violating immigration laws in Mozambique.
“Some were found in Maputo while the other group was found in Inhabane whilst in transit to Malawi. Some had passports but were not stamped while the other group had no any travel document.
“The group indicated that they have been in custody for weeks whilst waiting to be deported. Special appreciation was made to the Malawi High Commission in Maputo for the timely initiative in engaging authorities in Mozambique for a quick deportation,” he said.
The group was dominated by people from Machinga, Mangochi and Mzimba districts, according to Zulu.
“As Mwanza border, this is the second case of deportees registered this week only. Another group of 45 Malawian deportees arrived at the formation on Friday July 31, 2020.
“Of the deportees, 38 were arrested by security personnel on their way to South Africa from Malawi, while 7 were arrested whilst in transit from South Africa to Malawi,” he said.
Co-chairperson of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr. John Phuka, says all necessary COVID-19 preventive measures are being employed on the returnees.

Malawi Chess National Team Kicked Out of FIDE Online Olympiad

Instead of practicing, this AI mastered chess by reading about it ...
Malawi Chess National team has failed to advance to fifth round of the International Chess Federation Online Olympiad chess tournament having finished on position 7 out of 10 countries in pool C.
According to Chess Association of Malawi publicist Alfred Chinthere internet connectivity contributed to the team's poor performance as only 3 teams were expected to advance to the next round.
"Though we had problems with our internet connectivity, overall we had some individuals who performed better.
"FIDE Master Joseph Mwale had quite a good run but wasn't enough to guarantee us passage to Division 3.
"We shall sit down and look at our mistakes and problem electrify some of them so that we do better in our next online tournaments," said Chinthere.
This was the first Olympiad held online due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
The clear favorites Nigeria and Lebanon along with the “revelation of the tournament” Mauritania progressed to Division 3 with a round to spare.
After loosing to Mauritania Lebanon might have had some problems but the team resolved all the issues in a key match with Nigeria.
Mauritania sensationally won the tournament in Pool C, Lebanon came second, Nigeria is only third. All three teams will be in the spotlight in Division 3.
