Malawi has lost about MK 80 billion due to the closure of some hospitality centres due to the Coronavirus pandemic which has disrupted business activities across the globe.
Ministry of Tourism spokesperson, Milca Manyozo says the ministry has been falling to collect over MK 13 .5 billion every month from hospitality centres due to the pandemic.
Manyozo says among other things, tourists have been falling to cross Malawian borders as authorities sealed the entry points to curb the spread of corona.
She however said the ministry is working on measures meant to support the ailing but critical tourism industry.
