Lobin Lowe Condemns Mutharika’s Continued Attacks on Judiciary
Leaders of opposition in the August House Lobin Lowe has condemned president Peter Mutharika for his continued attacks on the judiciary after the nullification of May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
Lowe said this when he responded to the State of National Address (SONA) which was addressed by Mutharika via a recording video on June 5.
According to Mutharika the fresh presidential elections sanctioned by the courts are not the will of people and that those conniving to make the office of president vacant are committing treason.
Lowe also condemned Mutharika for re-appointing Linda Kunje and Jean Mathanga in the new set of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) despite the courts and Public Appointment Committee of Parliament (PAC) found them incompetent.
Further the leader of the opposition, commended legislators for setting up a date for the fresh presidential elections sanctioned by the Constitutional Court.
Lowe also criticized Mutharika for using a pre-recorded message to present his SONA.
He also hinted that unfinished projects such as Mombera University, Jenda-Edingeni Road, Mzuzu and Mangochi airports are haunting the DPP regime.
